Thoughts about her period in handball
I learnt about handball when I was 12 in my primary school which was sport specialized. I became a goalkeeper straight away, because I was one of the tallest from the class. I was member of the school team during this year and at the age of 13 I went to play in Fehérvár KC for a team called Cornexi at the time. Later Tímea Sugár became my goalkeeper coach, but at the time she was still active as a player, I saw her playing in games admired her talent and knowledge. She became my idol straight away. When I learnt that she would become my goalkeeping coach, I could barely believe it. She was a great coach, but at the same time very tough, she could always show something new and she was very helpful. She was not only taking care about our performance as a goalkeeper but also organized trips during our freetime, we always got so many great experiences. I believe that I improved a lot in her hands. I admired handball, loved the excitement of the games, victories and the feeling when the game balances on whether you save the penalty or not in the last minute, and when you make all your teammates and yourself happy and also your coach with saving it. My years that I spent in handball are a great part of my life.
I have already stopped playing handball, but I will savour the memories forever in my heart. I always look back with a smile on my face to my former teammates and coaches. I learnt a lot from them among other things persistence, willingness to win, sense of purpose and resolve, these are things that I can utilize in my life. Tímea Sugár will stay an idol for me forever!
