Nóri is looking back:

I grew up in Tapolca next to the Balaton (Lake Balaton), that is where I found out about handball in primary school. I was very interested in all things related to sport from an early age. I have learnt about several sports, but I felt I was better suited to any ball sports. My father, grand-father and mother also played handball and the chance to train was given by my primary school. I was around 10 years old when I went to my first handball session, and I thought it was great. Although I did not want to be a goalkeeper, but nobody else wanted to stand in the the goal, (I was the shortest in team), I stepped into the goal, and now I feel that I made a great decision. My father and grandfather were goalies too. I quickly realised that I loved this game and being a goalie even though I was short. But my size definitely didn’t stop me, and being a famous goalkeeper turned into a big dream.

My life has changed completely from the time I went to my very first session. We were competing in many school competitions, where we won lot of medals and special prizes. I was playing in the 3rd division (NB2) Tapolca team from the age of 6 and I was in the regional selected team. When I got chosen in high school, I wanted to make sure that I could go to trainings each day that is why I decided to study in Kodolányi Középiskola in Székesfehérvár. In 8th grade I was already going to Fehérvár to train in Anasztázia Virincsik’s team, and I became part of her team.

The first year was very tough, during the summer we had a minimum of two training sessions per day, and we also had special goalkeeper trainings once a week, that is where I met Susu. For me it was already a huge experience to play for a team with such a history like Cornexi, I couldn’t even believe that my goalkeeper coach was from the national team.  I am very thankful to her she gave me the chance to start my career. I learnt all the basics from her. Although I only measure 160 cm and not the ideal size for a goalkeeper, Susu accepted me like this exploited my capabilities.

Alongside training she took us to many places for teambuilding, where it would be still difficult to get in. We watched champion’s league games, went on more than one day trip, special medical checks and so on. When I was with Susu I always felt so good, if I had any problem we could always discuss them, both sport and private life. But at the training she was hard, but I thank her for this as it was the only way to reach the level I have reached. Over the years we’ve worked together more and more. In my first year when I got into the junior team, even though it was not my age-group, and then when I got into the first team in my graduation year. It was an incredible experience. Even though I only got few minutes to play, it was a great experience to be part of the team. After my graduation I played one year in Kispest in the 2nd division and spent 2 and a half year in Budaörs (until december 2014). I have stopped playing handball and I now work in Austria.
