Fanni’s Memories of our collaboration :

I started handball at the age of 12, in the team called at the time Cornexi in Székesfehévár. Before this time I didn’t know much about the sport. That’s where my goalie career  started, because I hated running I was never afraid of the ball, that post seemed the most suitable for me. The Beggining of the begining wasn’t easy, I wasn’t really gifted, but I was tall with long legs and arms. Later thanks to my persistence  my coaches gave me the chance to develop, so I started to go higher on the  ladder step by step through my age groups like everybody else. My last year as a junior, due to unfortunate injuries of my teammates by the end of the year I became part of the 1st divison team  And I could introduce myself as a player in Romania in august 2010. During the year the most important  thing was my role in the junior team, I  would sit on the bench for the 1st division team 19 times but I would also help my team with a few small periods of playing time. In 2011/12 I signed with my team as a professional. And because I was  the third goalkeeper of the team with a double licence I was also playing for the 2nd divison team called VKLSE in Győr with the intention of keeping me in the rythm of the matches.

By the end of the season of 2011/12 my profesional career ended and my life went in a new direction. I moved to France during the summer. I was participating in a training center which helps the young players to develop and become professional. I had a chance to play for two teams during the season in the French first and fourth division. Season of 2013/14 was going pretty the same way, I was chosen as the captain of the second team, I was very proud of this as the only foreginer.

About the work with Tímea Sugár….

What did I get from the period as a pupil of Susu? First of all a huge technical knowledge and understanding of what being a goalkeeper means, in my opinion this happens to very few people. But above all the friendship of a person who proved that if someone wants to reach something in sport and also in life, you don’t need to do anything else apart from work and believe and work some more! Who is a living example that size and capability is not the thing which is important and everybody can have a place in the 3x2 “cage”, which we call home even if it hurts sometimes.  And of course fanatism, which doesn’t allow you to do anything else but try to bring out the best in yourself, the situation in every case. I learnt for example that “there is no asssured ball”, and that we have to fight for every save, I still tell that sentence to myself sometimes, when I am in the goal.

So I believe that I can tell, that I became a goalkeeper under Tímea Sugár hands, learnt all the tricks of it and alongside I learnt a lot about life from her too.
